Ashwagandha is a superstar when it comes to improving health.
If you are searching for ways to restore your energy, look younger, and be free of disease, ashwagandha may be the superstar herb that provides the solution.
Ashwagandha has been praised as a longevity and vitality tonic for millennia. The herb, also known as Withania somnifera, is revered in Ayurvedic medicine for its restorative, energizing, and strengthening properties.
Over 200 scientific studies support ashwaganda's ability to:
Reduce stress and tension
Reduce brain cell degeneration
Alleviate mood swings and occasional feelings of sadness
Improve learning, memory and reaction time
Increase endurance and stamina
Support healthy thyroid and adrenal function
Help prevent cancer
Help maintain healthy blood sugar and cholestrol
Positively impact the immune system
Bonus: enhance sexual potency for both women and men
This ancient plant helps to relieve stress, tension, and depression.
Ashwagandha is an adaptogenic herb, which means it helps the body adapt to new or stressful situations.
In India, ashwagandha has been used traditionally in Ayurvedic medicine to improve mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and behavioral disturbances.
In our busy modern lives, we all experience our share of emotional, physical, and chemical stress, which take a toll on our brains and nervous systems.
A recent study compared the effects of ashwagandha with two commonly used antidepressant medications, and it found that ashwagandha helped stabilize moods and relieve feelings of occasional sadness and anxiety – without the terrible side effects of antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication.
Supports a healthy brain
Recent research has proven ashwagandha is more than a stress reliever. It also protects the brain from degeneration and improves symptoms of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson's, and Huntington's disease.
Ashwagandha is found to be useful in children with memory problems, and in people of older age with memory loss. Researchers at the National Brain Research Centre studied rats with Alzheimer’s that were unable to remember what they learned. After 20 days of supplementing with ashwagandha, researchers found a reduction in amyloid plaques (which cause brain degradation) and saw a significant improvement in their memories.
Helps balance your thyroid
Millions of people now struggle with thyroid problems, and many are unaware of their conditions. Adaptogens can be extremely effective in supporting and balancing hormones. They work with your body to bring you back into balance whether your levels are high or low.
Adaptogenic herbs have the remarkable ability to help with both hypo and hyper thyroid issues. Ashwagandha has been shown to improve the health of people with a sluggish thyroid, as well as with people who have an overactive thyroid.
Ashwagandha may also benefit thyroid function because it promotes scavenging of free radicals that cause cellular damage.
Helps rejuvenate your adrenals
Adrenal glands are endocrine glands that release the hormones cortisol and adrenaline (in response to stress).
When you are emotionally, physically, and mentally stressed, your adrenal glands can become overtaxed, leading to a condition known as adrenal fatigue. If your adrenals become exhausted, it can disrupt your other hormones, including progesterone, which can cause infertility and lower DHEA, and can even speed up aging.
Medical studies have shown that ashwagandha improves cortisol levels and insulin sensitivity. It naturally balances hormones and supports adrenal function, helping with chronic stress and adrenal fatigue.
Increases stamina and endurance
In a study of ashwagandha on physical performance and cardiorespiratory endurance in healthy young adults one study, forty normal healthy young adults were assigned to experimental groups for 8 weeks. Ten people received standardized root extracts of ashwagandha, 10 received standardized bark extract of terminalia arjuna (a plant used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat heart conditions) and 10 received both supplements. Ten more participants received placebos.
The study showed that ashwagandha increased velocity, power and VO2 max (a measure of the maximum volume of oxygen that an athlete can use).
The conclusion was that ashwagandha may be useful for generalized weakness and to improve speed and lower limb muscular strength and neuromuscular coordination and appear to be safe for young adults.
Helps prevent and treat cancer
In recent studies, ashwagandha extract is shown to have very promising benefits in helping to prevent and treat cancer. Certain studies have found that ashwagandha extract has a powerful antitumor effect.
Due to its immune boosting and antioxidant abilities, the extract appears to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells – specifically lung, stomach, breast, and colon cancers, which are among the leading types of cancers in the world.
Ashwagandha helps prevent cancer through its ability to stop the blood vessels around cancer cells from feeding the growth of cancerous tumors.
Studies have also shown that ashwagandha can be very useful in conjunction with traditional chemotherapy treatments. The extract appears to be effective in halting the immune system from becoming suppressed during chemotherapy. It is also able to counteract one of the biggest concerns with chemotherapy, the lowered white blood cell count, which puts cancer patients at much higher risk of infection.
Many cancer experts now recommending ashwagandha extract as both a method to prevent cancer, and an addition to conventional cancer treatments.
Helps reduce inflammation and pain
This ancient Indian plant based medicine has been used for generations as a medicine to maintain overall immune support and optimal health. It may have gained this reputation as a general energy-promoting, disease-preventing tonic because of its effect on the immune system.
A number of clinical trials have shown significant increases in white blood cell counts and other measures of strengthened immunity in rodents given ashwagandha or certain chemicals extracted from the herb.
In today’s world, ashwagandha is used by Ayurvedic doctors in supplement form to reduce immunosuppression and ease the pain of chemotherapy treatment by helping to reduce stress and fatigue.
In 58 studies of ashwagandha, research reveals that this potent herb possesses anti-inflammatory, antitumor, anti-stress, antioxidant, immune-supporting, and rejuvenating properties.
Ashwagandha is a neuro-protector that defends the central nervous system from degeneration. It also appears to benefit the endocrine, cardiopulmonary, and central nervous systems; and it provides benefits to people suffering from inflammation, liver disorders, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
So essentially, it’s contains anti-inflammatory and antiarthritic properties found to be effective in dealing with Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis.
Promotes vitality and longevity
Ashwagandha also reduces oxidative stress throughout the body, making it a powerful anti-aging compound. It is commonly used to increase vitality, particularly for people recovering from chronic illnesses, and to manage pain for people with arthritis.
Ashwagandha may also help regulate blood sugar which aids in suppressing sugar cravings and maintaining a healthy immune system, making it an overall super-star herb!
Enhances overall health and well-being
So it’s pretty clear, ashwagandha has the ability to enhance overall health.
But did you know the name ashwagandha also translates as odor of a horse?
It may be because the roots seem to resemble the smell of horse sweat. But it’s also known as the “strength of the stallion” since it has traditionally been used to strengthen the immune system after illness, and in reference to a horse’s virility. A bonus of this herbal super-star is that it enhances sexual potency for both women and men.
Add this powerful herb to your daily support system
But beware of fake or low-quality ashwagandha supplements
Taking ashwaganda supplements can help your brain function better and boost your overall well-being, but do you know what’s in yours?
Unfortunately, most supplements don’t have the doses you need to get results. They may have insubstantial amounts of the active components, or you may be getting little more than a capsule filled with powders chock full of heavy metals. What’s more, the powders may not be fresh, and can be processed with harsh ingredients that destroy or degrade ashwagandha’s healthful components.
The unfortunate fact is that many big supplement companies are just out to make a sale. The ashwagandha they promote:
Comes from plants grown with GMO seeds
Have toxic levels of metals
Have minimal quantities of active ingredients
Are not easily absorbed
Contain cheap fillers such as magnesium stearate
At best, you're pouring your money down the drain and not benefiting your health.
At worst, these supplements may actually be doing your body more harm than good.
Why I Created Ancient Healthcare
I'm Amish Shah, and I founded Ancient Health Care after I received a devastating health diagnosis while I was just in my thirties.
By returning to my roots of Ayurvedic medicine, I resolved my personal health crises, and transformed my body, mind, and soul. Today I feel happier and more energized than ever.
Now I'm on a mission to improve modern lives by reviving powerful plants used in the ancient science of Ayurveda.
Our seed-to-table supplements are the purest on the planet.
After finding out how many supplement companies dupe the public with inferior products that offer little or no benefit, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I was determined to provide the highest quality supplements, from seed to manufacturing to table.
We go straight to the source, working with plant-based farms in India.
In partnering with an organization that owns over 40,000 acres of farms, we are helping to support over 6,000 village farmers, and employ 120 scientists who study the soil and plants.
These farms are built on a sustainable framework to ensure the longevity of the farms and their farmers.
They believe in organically farmed, naturally cultivated plants. And that’s what we believe in too.
We are on a mission to spark an ancient health care revolution and deliver the science of Ayurveda across the planet to 20 million people by 2030.
A portion of your Ancient Health Care purchases is given to empower the farmers, laborers, doctors, organizations, and individuals who make this ancient science available.
