If you’ve been reading any health news lately, you’ve probably seen headlines similar to the ones listed above.
A PubMed search for curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, reveals 8793 peer-reviewed scientific articles on curcumin, making turmeric one of the most thoroughly researched plants in existence today.
It even surpasses other well-studied herbs such as garlic, cinnamon, ginseng, and ginger.
It’s no wonder that turmeric is now being hailed a modern superfood.
The remarkable anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric were laid out in 2010 published in the International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, where this mighty plant is credited with numerous proven therapeutic benefits:
Fights against cancer cells
Increases memory function
Reduces stress and depression
Lowers the risk of heart disease
Promotes digestive health
Helps reverse aging
What’s so amazing is that turmeric is not only found to have value in the conditions listed above, but over 580 additional health conditions have been shown to be prevented or treated with turmeric.
Many of these conditions are completely resistant to conventional treatment.
A partial list of conditions found to be helped by turmeric includes:
Turmeric isn’t a new discovery. It’s been used for over 6000 years by the Vedic culture in India as medicine. In fact, Susruta’s Ayurvedic Compendium, dating back to 250 BC, recommends an ointment containing turmeric to relieve the effects of food poisoning.
Today, this ancient remedy may be just the solution you’ve been searching for if you’re suffering from a health condition that modern medicine can’t resolve.
The Golden Spice with a Brilliant History
Turmeric is one of the most popular spices in the world. It has been used throughout history as a condiment and textile dye. For thousands of years, it’s been prized in India and the Middle East for its peppery flavor and the unique kick it lends to foods.
You many know it as a spice in curry powder; and it’s the spice that gives mustard its bright yellow color.
Turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant, in the ginger family. It has a tough brown skin and a deep orange flesh.
In ancient times, when healers noticed that turmeric had anti-inflammatory properties, they used it to treat a wide variety of conditions such as aches and pains, jaundice, menstrual problems, hemorrhaging, toothaches, bruises, chest pain, flatulence, and colic.
Curcumin: the primary pharmacological agent
The active component and primary pharmacological agent in turmeric is curcumin. It is one of the most promising natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds being studied. Its proven health effects are comparable to over-the-counter anti-inflammatory agents as well as some prescription medications.
The most powerful aspect of curcumin may be its ability to control inflammation. Inflammation has been shown to play a major role in most chronic illnesses, including neurodegenerative, cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic and autoimmune diseases.
In fact, curcumin can be a better anti-inflammatory treatment than many of the popular medications. In a study that evaluated the efficacy of curcumin in patients with painful conditions, they found that curcumin supplements may be a safe and effective strategy to improve pain severity, as well as being as effective as 14 drugs.
Turmeric’s ability to keep inflammation at bay may be the key to reversing disease, especially since curcumin doesn’t produce the toxic effect that synthetic drugs sometimes do, such as internal bleeding, forming ulcers, and even lowering white blood cell counts.
How curcumin combats inflammation
Most anti-inflammatory foods and substances operate in one of two ways:
1) Neutralizing inflammation-causing free radicals in the body with a flood of antioxidants.
2) Stopping the body from producing the chemicals that initiate inflammation in the first place. This is how most over-the-counter pain medications work.
Turmeric uses a multi-pronged approach to combat inflammation through both mechanisms simultaneously. This works wonders for aches, pains, arthritis, and many chronic diseases. It stops inflammation at the source, while also strongly supporting the immune system with antioxidants.
And because almost every disease can be traced back to inflammation and oxidative stress, turmeric appears to support healing in almost every ailment you can think of.
Enjoy side benefits instead of coping with side effects
You’ve seen all the pharmaceutical commercials that tell you to “ask your doctor.”
The irony is that after offering a primary health benefit, they list a series of truly frightening side-effects, often including sudden death. (Just check any drug insert to see the multiple, serious side effects.)
Turmeric is exactly the opposite.
Instead of causing unhealthy side effects, turmeric offers several hundred side benefits, including halting pain and inflammation, regulating blood sugar, preventing obesity, reducing depression, and even inhibiting tumor growth.
Skyrocketing turmeric's effectiveness
Turmeric is so effective because of curcumin. Just as oranges are a great source of vitamin C, turmeric is a great source of curcumin, which is extracted from the turmeric root.
Typically, turmeric root contains between 2-5% curcumin. You can find high quality turmeric powder at your local health food store, but it’s almost impossible to incorporate therapeutic amounts into your diet on a daily basis. You’d have to be cooking with turmeric for breakfast, lunch and dinner…and not everyone likes the taste.
The only way to get beneficial amounts of curcumin is with a high-quality supplement.
The problem is that curcumin is not easily absorbed by the body. The solution is mixing turmeric with black pepper extract, called piperine, which can increase the bioavailability (the amount you absorb) of curcumin by 2000%, according to research published in the Journal of Medicinal Plant Research.
Beware of fake or useless curcumin supplements
Turmeric may be called the miracle healer, but do you know what’s in yours?
Unfortunately, most supplements don’t have the doses you need to get results. They may have insubstantial amounts of the active components, or be missing piperine.
You may be getting little more than a capsule filled with turmeric root powder.
What’s more, the powders may not be fresh, and can be processed with harsh ingredients that destroy or degrade turmeric’s healthful components.
The unfortunate fact is that many big supplement companies are just out to make a sale. The turmeric they promote:
Comes from plants grown with GMO seeds
Have toxic levels of metals
Have minimal quantities of active ingredients
Are not easily absorbed
Contain cheap fillers such as magnesium stearate
At best, you're pouring your money down the drain and not benefiting your health.
At worst, these supplements may actually be doing your body more harm than good.
Why I Created Ancient Healthcare
I'm Amish Shah, and I founded Ancient Health Care after I received a devastating health diagnosis while I was just in my thirties.
By returning to my roots of Ayurvedic medicine, I resolved my personal health crises, and transformed my body, mind, and soul. Today I feel happier and more energized than ever.
Now I'm on a mission to improve modern lives by reviving powerful plants used in the ancient science of Ayurveda.
Our seed-to-table supplements are the purest on the planet.
After finding out how many supplement companies dupe the public with inferior products that offer little or no benefit, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I was determined to provide the highest quality supplements, from seed to manufacturing to table.
We go straight to the source, working with plant-based farms in India.
In partnering with an organization that owns over 40,000 acres of farms, we are helping to support over 6,000 village farmers, and employ 120 scientists who study the soil and plants.
These farms are built on a sustainable framework to ensure the longevity of the farms and their farmers.
They believe in organically farmed, naturally cultivated plants. And that’s what we believe in too.
We are on a mission to spark an ancient health care revolution and deliver the science of Ayurveda across the planet to 20 million people by 2030.
A portion of your Ancient Health Care purchases is given to empower the farmers, laborers, doctors, organizations, and individuals who make this ancient science available.
Ancient Healthcare Turmeric is organically farmed, gluten Free, non GMO and soy free
